"What sets Carla Younger apart from my former teacher is that she definitely helped me tune into that passion I have for piano. I'm never bored at the lessons & I am always inspired when I leave the lessons. Ms. Younger tries to figure out what you love to play. She has introduced me to some of my favorite composers, like Chopin, for example. One of my favorite parts of piano lessons is finding a new piece to learn. She helps me to find a piece that I connect with & that matters or touches/moves me in such a way that I have/want to learn it. With Ms. Younger, it’s much more than scales & theory & technique. It's more about the passion you have for music & she really helps bring that passion out in you. I never would have wanted or imagined wanting a career in music until I studied with Ms. Younger, because she brings out the passion in me for music & piano in particular."

"I like taking lessons here because I can expect to learn things. I've learned a lot since I started taking lessons from Ms. Younger when I was 5 years old & now I'm 14 years old. I've learned how to read music really well. Because of piano, I decided to learn flute for band in middle school. My knowledge with piano helped prepare me & make me a quick study for flute. In school, I know a lot more than students would in the class because of taking piano first. It's really fun. I can expect to come to piano lessons & play piano & play something that's fun for me. It's all around, just a really good experience. It helps me excel in classes in school & I can talk to others about music when I otherwise wouldn't know about it. I have made friends through music. I enjoy performing for my fellow classmates & friends. What I like about Carla Younger as a teacher is whenever I make a mistake, she will let me see if I can figure out the mistake on my own, before correcting me on the mistake. She always gives me what is best for me & what is at my proper level. Carla Younger judges where I can grow & encourages that growth."

"Carla Younger is a very enthusiastic teacher who pushes us, not too hard, but still challenging enough to go beyond our limits so we can get better. Ms. Younger makes learning piano music fun because she's so passionate about it. She loves her job & strives to makes me think harder & learn from myself. The pieces we play, she lets us choose what we want to learn & it's not forced on us. She gives us options when deciding on what pieces to learn & it fits our personality. She strives to know her students very well. Ms. Younger is an engaging teacher. She always asks how we are & how our week was. She cares about us. Then we dive into piano, further & more deeply into it. She wants us to know the terminology in the pieces & learn the concept of the technique of each piece. She helps me to connect to each piece by researching the background or inspiration for the piece to help understand the story/mood of each piece that I'm learning better. The story/mood helps bring the piece to another deeper level. I also enjoy doing recitals & competitions with Ms. Younger. With the recitals, we are just playing & sharing music with each other & it's very entertaining. I love hearing what everyone else plays because I usually will hear a piece or two that I want to learn. With competitions, when we have to play for a judge — it makes me want to try/work harder & is such a great motivation for me."
