About Carla
Carla Jo Younger has been teaching piano for 28 years and has her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Webster University here in St. Louis, MO. Ms. Younger began as a student at age 6 & has always loved music & piano in particular. Ms. Younger started composing her own music at age 10. She has even composed some unpublished piano music to a few Shel Silverstein Poems from his books. Ms. Younger encourages any student who shows interest in composing to develop it, but it's not a requirement.
She has had the opportunity to play piano with the Town and Country Community Orchestra, at Plaza Frontenac, The Ritz Carlton in Clayton, & has performed at the Fox Theatre (voice) & the Sheldon Concert Hall (Piano).
She also has had the opportunity to play in a couple of local bands (keyboards, backup vocals, lead vocals and flute) — including getting to be the opening act for country singer, John Michael Montgomery. Ms. Younger is classically trained in piano, but encourages her students to learn a wide spectrum of the different genres of music so that the student can be well rounded. You never know where your musical ability will take you!
Ms. Younger has also studied flute for 11 years and was first chair in middle and high school, and first chair in the select band, All Suburban Honors Band, and has performed with the Webster Community Orchestra.
